About

Ian Wasti is a strategy consultant, author, and professional facilitator.

He is the author of How to be (Im)Perfect, the irreverent book that is a reminder of what is truly valuable in our lives, and more importantly, what is not.

In his free time he is a consultant with a large firm in the Washington, DC area, where he leads government and commercial agencies and organizations to new understandings and perspectives. He has worked across the US, in Asia, East Africa, and the Pacific in the areas of security, disaster and risk management, cyber defense, public-private partnerships, food safety, and infectious diseases.  All different areas, but all require bringing different people together to develop a shared understanding.

He's a former Army officer, account manager, and program manager. He has 20 years of work experience in learning from his mistakes and he shies away from "cross-collaborative, synergistic enterprise-wide dialogues" primarily because he has no idea what that means.

He has jumped from airplanes, biked the DMZ, studied ebola, and finished an Ironman triathlon.  He’s a security exercise designer, a recovering blogger, a science enthusiast, a travel junkie, an outgoing introvert, and has proudly never played fantasy football.  But the greatest challenge he has faced is to de-program us from the motivational posters of our lives and help us all find perspective and meaningful outcomes.

He has a B.S. in molecular biology from Florida Institute of Technology, an M.S. in biodefense from the Johns Hopkins University, and is pursuing a degree in common sense from his wife.

He lives in Maryland with his beautiful wife, two dogs, and twin girls. Yikes.
