What:
In October, I am going to approach a homeless person in Philadelphia and hand over $100 in Wawa gift cards, pack of socks, underwear, shirts, blanket, and toiletries.
Why:
I worked in Philadelphia for 9 years, and then moved out to an office in the suburbs. After a few months I was back in the city, and I passed by a homeless man and realized I hadn't seen any homeless in months. It surprised me how desensitized I had become. When I was young, my heart hurt for people who fell on hard times. Now, instead of falling into the old routine of ignoring, I just want to give someone who is having a tough time a reason to smile.
